A good example of what deejays need to strive to be...

Through out the years I have seen many deejay's (And had the pleasure to share the stage with a number of them). My personal philosophy on being a deejay is that you are there to please the crowd (Sprinkled in with a bit of narcissistic indulgences from time to time). Ultimately, a good deejay fuses his love of the music he's playing with what the crowd is asking for. I believe that my best sets have always come when I am most in tune with the crowd and they are feeding my ego *laugh*. We, the deejays, are there to please the people that pay to be at the event, the party goers, the candy kids, the clubbers... whatever you want to call them.

Back to the deejays that I mentioned above... There are so many of the "big name" or top deejays that demand the huge $$ to come and play and more often then not I leave disappointed. They simply show up, play their standard set and leave. The interaction, the ability to feed off the crowd and fuel their dancing and enjoyment seem to be lacking.

I have had the immense pleasure of seeing Donald Glaude spin many many times. He is one of the few deejays that I will go out of my way to see. He has the innate ability to floor the entire audience and to continually grow and evolve. Every time I see this man play, I leave with a sense of awe and the euphoria I used to get when I first started frequenting parties and club nights. If you haven't seen this man spin, then I highly recommend that you take the opportunity to do so when you can.

Here's a little of what I've been talking about...
